"In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi-human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog." - Edward Hoagland

Jacki Barnes- President

I

joined the Thunder Bay Schutzhund Club in 1996 after purchasing a German Shepherd pup, Dillon from the Secretary of the club at the time. Dillon excelled in CKC obedience and tracking, earning a CDX and a TDX.

I became President of the club in 1998. That same year Dillon achieved a BH. Realizing that he just wasn’t cut out for the protection part of Schutzhund, I purchased 8 week old “Aro von Trostberg” in 1999.

Aro was an 8 time SchH 3 competitor.  We participated in 2 Regional Championships, placing 3rd at the 2004 Ontario Regionals and competed at the 2004 German Shepherd Championships.  Aro was retired in 2005 due to a back condition.

Jacki & Bizzy 2009

I began working with Bizzy Von Voll Der Griff in 2005.
Bizzy and I received our BH in May of 2007 and our SchH 1 in Sept of 2007. At the Ontario Regionals held in Thunder Bay May 30th to June 1st 2008 we were High SchH 2 and got our SchH 3 in August 2008. We were 3rd overall at the 2009 Ontario Regionals and are heading for Nationals in July 2009
